A woman in Lusaka’s Chilulu township has dumped newly born baby in Ngwerere stream immediately after giving birth.
The baby that was found by passer-bys around 09:00 hours floating on the water with a lengthy umbilical code covered in blood.
The state of the baby gave the impression that it was dumped shortly after it was born by a woman who is yet to be identified.
“We were passing through here around 09:00 hours and found this baby floating. What that lady has done is sinful and it should be investigated. Since Emmasdale Police Station is nearby, let them investigate it thoroughly and arrest the woman who did this,” one of the onlookers said.
The scene attracted a sizeable crowd of people that were fighting to sight the baby on the water.
