Stella LibonganiThe Inspector General of Police Stella Libongani has warned students against taking the law in their own hands.

Libongani has said police will not allow high school pupils and college students to take the law in own hands.

She said police expect certain levels of maturity from pupils and students in the way they express their frustrations and protest management decisions.

She was not happy with pupils at Mporokoso High School who demonstrated because they didn’t want prep time that was introduced by school authorities.

Management introduced prep prompting a protest from pupil which police thwarted.

Meanwhile, Evelyn Hone College management has undertaken to pay for repairs to the damages caused by students when they burnt the Art Department a few days ago.

The students rioted over non-payment of bursaries by government and torched a lecture theatre. Police arrested about 70 of them who have since been released after paying admission of guilty fines.
