When the Post said, Sata was Ukwa in our politics, a man never to be taken seriously, we thought that was unfair. This was way back in 2006. And we thought the man (Sata) would take an introspective look on his conduct.
Unfortunately the man seems to live up to that name even as a Head of State. To say we are shocked is an under statement, with the response we got from Sata over the letter Hakainde Hichilema sent to state house regarding a constitutional issue. (letter posted earlier).
For the record, HH was democratically elected in a national convention in 2006. The circumstances were not the best but this is UPND, we weathered the storm. His election was endorsed by 8 out of 9 provinces then, so he is legitimate.
Secondly, it surely should not matter whether HH is legitimate in UPND or not, but he, as a citizen, has the right to demand answers from the Head of State.
Sata thinks he is President for who? The 43% that elected him or what? Does he think he is PF President or State President? Someone pinch that man and tell him where he is. State house is not Omelo Mumba road in Rhodespark.
What democracy can Sata possibly teach us. This is a man who in 1996 barred Kaunda from contesting an election, through a funny constitution. This is a man who run PF single handedly for 10 years and held a quick- fix convention with 50 positions going unopposed including his position as Party President.
Then today he wants to behave as though he is a Democrat. What is his basis for asking HH, a democratically elected party President, his legitimacy with his tainted record. This is a man who was pushing for a third term so that his benefactor stays in power against the wishes of the people.
This a man whose sole responsibility at state house, has been to destroy democracy, today he can question HH, a democrat, what kind of democracy elected him?
Sata is what David Kibuuka is to the the Loyiso Gola parody show on e-tv africa. Ask him one question and he answers something else; Loyiso: So Mr Kibuuka, what do you advise the egyptians to do?; Kibuuka: Thank you Loyi! This is what Sata did to HHs letter; Mr President what do you say about the constitution abrogation? Sata: Who elected you? Now isn’t that David Kibuuka?
We have news for Sata. We don’t care what he calls us, we have asked legitimate questions, and those questions need answers. Epela shikulu!
