The Southern African Center for the Constructive of Disputes (SACCORD) has urged political parties taking party in the July 25 by-elections to continue observing the Electoral Code of Conduct in their ongoing campaigns.
SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Chembe has said the Electoral Code of Conduct has been put in place for the specific reasons of ensuring that there is a favorable environment for holding peaceful free and fair elections.
Chembe says political parties should also ensure that they have control of their cadres to avoid eruptions of violence which can be a recipe of nullifying a Parliamentary seat shortly after a by-election has been held.
Chembe has also appealed to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to continue being proactive during the time of elections in the country.
