Six women inmates have escaped from lawful custody in Mpulungu.
The six women who are facing varied charges among them murder and aggravated robbery forced their way out of jail after breaking the gate and escaped.
Norhern Province Police Commissioner Mary Chikwanda said the two of the six had been re-captured while four were still on the run.
She said that the quarter should be treated as armed and dangerous.
Chikwanda said the escapees may have been aided by relatives who may have given them the instruments to break the lock.
