Local Government minister Emerine Kabanshi has urged the local authorities to prosecute people involved in illegal allocation of land.
Kabanshi said this at the Local Government Association of Zambia general conference. Kabanshi said the council should be able to make good decisions that can develop the community.
She said all the councils are appointed by the Commissioner of Land as land agents but that they are failing to work to their expectation.
Kabanshi said all those Involved in illegal allocation of land should be referred to the police for prosecution and face the wrath of the law.
UNDP country representative Winnie Wignaraja said the association should be able to implement government policies for national development.
She said the United Nation (UN) system in Zambia will continue to supports local government authority in order to deliver the services to people.
