The PF government has failed to disburse Constituency Development Funds (CDF) for 2013 and have called on members of parliament to be patient.
This is amidst reports that government has misdirected CDF to by-elections instead of disbursing it to the 150 constituencies who are the principal recipients.
Critics have also attributed the failure by government to release the funds as a
punishment to constituencies that are in the domains of opposition members of parliament.
The PF government is expected to present the budget for 2014 in October this year and yet they don’t seem to account where the CDF money that was budged in the 2013 budget has been diverted.
Local government minister Emerine Kabanshi has said government has only released K72 million CDF funds for 56 constituencies leaving out 94 constituencies.
Kabanshi has urged the members that have not received the money to be patient with government and that they will receive later.
