After days of playing hide and seek political parties in the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Mkaika in Katete District, Malambo in Mambwe District and Petauke Central in Petauke District in Eastern Province will have to unveil their candidates during the nominations set for today.
The Malambo and Petauke seats fell vacant following nullifications by the courts of law while for Mkaika, area Member of Parliament (MP) David Phiri resigned to join the Patriotic Front (PF) from the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD).
Most parties have been cagey on who their candidates are with only the opposition National Restoration Party naming all its candidates way before nomination day.
The UPND has adopted Maxwell Mwale for Malambo and incumbent Hastings Sililo in Mulobezi with the party expected to step out for partner MMD in Mkaika and Petauke Central.
In Petauke Central many will be awaiting whether incumbent Dora Siliya will be the candidate for the former ruling party as the PF has been overt about their intentions to bar her.
The by-elections will be held on September, 5.
