nsandaThe Patriotic Front hierachy has continued casting innuendos on President Michael Sata’s 2016 candidature for elections by lining up cadres to endorse his him for an election which is three years away.

On Monday party chairperson for transport Willie Nsanda once again talked up President Michael Sata’s standing in the 2016 elections.

The debate about President Sata’s candidature has been curiously peddled by individuals who have been named in a possible succession tussle when Sata steps down among them Geoffrey Mwamba and Party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba.

“President Michael Sata is going to deliver development to the people of Zambia and to do that he needs two terms. We are going to support him to stand in 2016 and ensure that he serves his two terms,” Nsanda, who is a surrogate campaigner for GBM, said as cadres who had marched to the party secretariat cheered him on.

“He needs a full two terms to rectify the damage that was done to this country by the previous government.”

The debate reminiscent of the divisve third term under the Frederick Chiluba regime exposes the factionalism that has been taking root in the ruling party with the trident of Kabimba, Mwamba and on the quieter side Given Lubinda’s name popping up.

Presidential elections are not due until 2016 but the battle to succeed President Sata, whose health is dire and well known to the PF top class, is alive and kicking.
