Opposition National Restoration Party (NAREP) leader Elias Chipimo Jr has charged that it is insensitive for government to begin building the retirement house for president Michael Sata when he has not even gone half way through his first term of office.
Chipimo says it is unfortunate that government has chosen to give priority to the construction of President Michael Sata’s house when there are serious needy sectors that require funding.
Chipimo wonders what criteria the Ministry of Works and Supply has used when other former presidents have not had their houses built.
The NAREP leader stresses that it is unacceptable to have mega resources being spent on President Sata’s retirement house when higher learning institutions are facing serious accommodation challenges.
He notes that the move by government is a total misplacement of priorities during a time when the country is facing budget deficit.
Chipimo has since urged government to make a choice and come up with acceptable activities that will benefit all Zambians.
