The Consortium of Civil Society Organizations has vowed to make the registration of NGOs under the NGO ACT No.16 of 2009 a flop.

The CSOs have maintained that they will not allow government to proceed with the registration of NGOs under the NGO Act.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Consortium interim Chairperson, MacDonald Chipenzi, says it is important that the Patriotic Front (PF) government revisit their Manifesto in which they promised to protect the NGOs in the country.

Chipenzi says it is for this reason that they reject the NGO registration process currently underway and spearheaded by the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health.

He adds that the consortium will explore any means possible and join hands with like minded NGOs in finding mechanisms to make the NGO registration process a flop or stop it altogether.

Chipenzi has revealed that CSOs will continue observing the Black Friday Campaigns until government accepts to dialogue with them on issues affecting the nation.

The Foundation for Democratic Process Executive Director adds that government must disclose to the nation how much money has been saved since they removed the maize and fuel subsidies.

He states that it is also important that government discloses how many schools, hospitals and clinics have been constructed or about to be constructed out of the savings made from the removal of subsidies.
