A Patroitic Front (PF) constituency official in Chongwe has said ruling party are behaving like hungry hyenas.

Speaking in an interview, Jackson Tembo who is a committee member in Kanakantapa said PF members not only in Chongwe had shown a trend where they were involved in illegally activities such as land grabbing and corruption, which they are doing rampantly.

Tembo said one of the biggest problem with the PF was that everyone wanted to eat and this had resulted in members acquiring assets such as land in a hurry and illegally.

“It is like there is so many hungry people around PF and they have seen the chance f the party being in power to enrich themselves but there is a scramble for

He said PF members starting with ministers are not interested in serving the people but in personal aggradisement.

Tembo said senior cabinet ministers were mentioned in a land scandal in Mungule area while district and leaders n Chongwe were invading private estates in the name of the party in government.

“It is like we went in government very hungry and now we are just eating whatever we find anywhere. The problem is starting from the top. People are just plundering and sharing contracts. Remember the Wynter Kabimba and Geoffrey Mwamba fiasco when the two reported each other to the law enforcement agencies for corruption? Here in Chongwe, we have members that have gone flat out to grab, share and sell any idle land in sight. We are behaving like hungry hyena fighting for food,” he said.

Tembo said it was only President Sata who could put a stop to the wrongs but the Head of State had moved in from a recluse to the cold potato, adding that Sata’s tranquility on important national matters such as the shortage of ARVs and vaccines for babies had created so much speculations among members leading to the current endorsement debate.

“Many of us are not surprised that there are people planning to take over from Sata. He created this situation for himself because there lots of opportunists in our party. Sata is an opportunist himself, so expect the same behavoiur from his lieutenants,” he said.

He said Zambia had become a haven for lawlessness and corruption, even in the midst of statements that the PF government was fighting corruption.

“What is happening is sad. We thought Zambian now had the opportunity to develop after we went in power, but most of us members are so disappointed because what is happening especially when it comes to land is literally looting by hungry hyenas,” he said.

He said a senior member of the PF central committee had allocated 32 residential plots to himself at the controversial Silver Rest land in Lusaka.

Tembo said Zambians must be alert because the country would be plunged into epic levels of destruction that could be hard to reverse.

He said the PF would not be in power forever and the people perpetrating illegalities such as Kennedy Kamba and Geoffrey Chuumbwe would be meet the full arm of the law.

The PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba was not available to respond to react to Tembo’s statement. Kabimba’s mobile phone was not reachable at the time of publishing.
