Police in Chipata have arrested former president Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew following the clash between MMD and PF cadres during Mkaika parliamentary by-election.
Andrew who sustained serious injuries from the fracas that ensued was forced out his hospital bed at St Francis Hopsital in Katete and taken to Chipata Central Police Station for questioning.
He was formally arrested but released on bail with the matter expected to come up at the Katete Magistrate Court on September, 12.
The Patriotic Front lost the Mkaika by-election by a landslide margin to the opposition MMD.
