Siliya’s Case set for September 26

The case involving Dora Siliya and two others has been adjourned to September, 26 after defence lawyers sought more time to study the state’s court documents.

When the matter came up for inter-parte hearing, the lawyers for the defendants said they were not granted sufficient time to study the submission as their clients had been out of town at the time the state hurriedly applied for the quashing of the Stay of Execution.

High Court Judge Mungeni Mulenga had granted Petauke Central aspiring candidate, her Malambo and Mulobezi colleagues judicial review to quash the Electoral Commission’s decision to bar the trio from recontesting their seats.

However, the State appealed the decision further postponing the poll.
