hakainde-hichilema-may-zambia-reportsUnited Party for National Development president Hakainde Hichilema says the setting up of two more tribunals to investigate two judges underscores President Michael Sata’s version of judicial reforms.

Hichilema said the Patritic Front wanted to reform the judiciary to ensure that judges not agreable to them are scandalized.

“The appointment of two more tribunals by President Sata is yet another classic example of loss of direction because it appears the two judges have paid for not being willing to play to the demands of the PF,” Hichilema said.

“President Sata is doing whatever he is doing to instil fear in the judiciary and procure favours from those that have no spine.”

He added: “It would appear that is their version of judicial reforms.
Hichilema said the move amounted to abuse of the judiciary and also powers of the presidency.

President Sata who last May appointed a tribunal to investigate Justice Phillip Muosnda and two others led by Malawian judge Lovemore Chikopa with the process dragging on owing to legal challenges.

With the Chikopa tribunal mired in controversy, the addition of another tribunal will further throw the judiciary into turmoil.
