Zambia_PFThe Patriotic Front Central Committee will this Saturday meet with the recent losses in parliamentary by-elections and also the internal wrangles that are spiralling out of hand set to be discussed.

And Kabwata Constituency chairman Ben Mpengula has urged the Central Committee to dissolve the Lusaka District and Provincial committees for speaking against the endorsement crusade.

Mpengula said anybody opposed to the endorsement of President Sata as the sole candidate for the 2016 general elections should be booted out of the party.

“Our message to the Central Committee as they meet is that they should make it clear that we do not want those that are opposed to the sole candidature of President Sata’s. We also want them to dissolve the Lusaka District and Provincial committees because we believe they are being used to work against the wishes of the majority of party members,” Mpengula said.

“Those that are not endorsing Sata should leave the party and form their own. We know they want to take over the party in 2016.”

The Patriotic Front is currently engulfed in a deepeining leadership crisis fuelled by anticipation that President Sata may not recontest the 2016 elections with the top leadership beginning to reposition themselves to take over.

Top officials – defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and his justice counterpart Wynter Kabimba – are engaged in a raging battle to succeed President Michael Sata. Kabimba, a member of the Fred M’membe cartel, has been on a countrywide tour to campaign as President Sata’s anointed successor in 2016.

Conversely, GBM has launched his endorse Sata for 2016 campaign to counter Kabimba’s machinations. Their supporters have exchanged physical and verbal attacks at any gathering they have faced off.

GBM’s endorse Sata for 2016 campaign has seemingly emerged stronger than the Kabimba Presidential Project which is hugely anchored on President Sata’s health as insiders believe he will not be able to go for his constitutional second term.
