Chief Chimbuka of the Bemba people of Northern Province has joined the President Michael Sata sole candidature endorsement for 2016 and also demanded the dismissal of Wynter Kabimba as Secretary General of the party.
The traditional leader who admitted that he was a relative of President Sata said he was not aware of the PF leader being in an incapacitated position to stand beyond 2016.
“I cannot hide President Sata is my relative and if he was sick my in-law Dr Kaseba (First Lady) would have told me that he is not well and will not be able to stand,” he said.
“But he is okay and should be the only candidate in 2016 because he is a very good leader.”
Chimbuka also chorused calls for Kabimba to step down.
“I will also be open about the Secretary General who should resign because he seems to know more about the president’s health and wants to use it to his advantage,” he said.
The ruling party is currently steeped in wrangles centering on the eligibility of President Sata to stand in 2016 given concerns about his state of health.
Cadres on Friday marched across the city centre demanding the removal of the Secretary General while the Patriotic Front propaganda machine The Post Newspapers has moved to create a barrier against Kabimba demanding the weeding out of vocal cadres.
