Mwansa KapeyaTwenty one days before Parliament re-opens, the government has remained dodgy on the deadline for the presentation of the access to information bill.

Chief Governmment spokerperson Mwansa Kapeya said the bill was still being worked on by experts to be tailored to government’s tastes.

“All I can say is that the bill is almost ready and it is being worked on by the experts but I cannot commit on the roadmap in terms on when people should expect it in Parliament,” Kapeya said.

“It is a almost done but we want to do a good job to ensure it meets expectations.”

Kapeya however declined to state if the bill would be tabled in the new session of Parliament that will be opened at the monthend.

“I cannot say for sure that the bill will be tabled in the next session of Parliament because I am just settling in the office,” he said.

The Access to Information bill was one of the major offerings on the Patriotic Front’s campaign messages and was promised to be delivered in 90 days but with two years of being in power, the ruling party has yet to deliver the bill.
