Foreign Affairs Minister Wilbur Simuusa took the hint from President Michael Sata for ministers to defend the Patriotic Front or risk being fired by immediately going to his constituency where he said the Head of State was not tribal by appointing him.
Simuusa, who was singled out by President Sata during his address of cabinet ministers that he should remind the nation that he was not Bemba, said the head of state had appointed people from other provinces in his cabinet.
The Nchanga lawmaker’s remarks at Chingola’s Green Market received wide coverage from the public media who seemed to have taken the bait from the president.
Simuusa said the president had accommodated people from Southern Province in his cabinet and that proved that he was a nationalist.
President Sata has come under fire for appointing his tribesmen-Bembas to key government positions.
Key portfolios like defence and finance are well under his family empire.
