Ex-Barotse Premier Arrested

Ngambela-SinyandiPolice in Western Province have arrested the former Ngambela Clement Sinyinda for allegedly being the driver of the Barotseland session move.

Sinyinda was picked with the police alleging that he sent youths in the province to collect money for the purchase of military hardware for the liberation of Barotseland from Zambia.

The police have also charged Sinyinda for his role in the chairing the Barotse National Council in March that declared the Barotseland Agreement of 1964 null and void.

According to the Lozi tradition, the BNC is the highest decision making body with their decisions only reversible by the same body.

Western Province Police Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi confirmed the arrest but could not give details.

Sinyinda is also being accused of being in touch with fugitive newly appointed Barotseland Administrator General Aumba Mombotwa.
