Sata in a chopperPresident Michael Sata and his spouse should now stop abusing state resources. Now that his government has unilaterally imposed a wage freeze policy it follows therefore that there must be some form of sacrifice on the first family.

It is hypocrisy for Sata to sanction his spouse to keep abusing state resources with such impunity when he himself as opposition leader he vehemently and ruthlessly abused the former first ladies with false accusations of abusing state resources.

The unbridled abuse of state resources we are witnessing now is like Zambia has a co-shared presidency between husband and wife. In the end we don’t know who is a President or spouse.

We don’t think it is correct in the manner and style Sata’s spouse is going about abusing state resources and this includes the public media and literally overshadowing the President himself.

As a non-state actor the first lady is constitutionally unknown by the state apparatus strictly speaking she cannot assume the role of commander-in-chief by default in the absence of her spouse Sata.

We think that her persistent meddling in health institutions is diminishing and overshadowing the role of the bonafide Minister responsible for that particular docket.

No-one elected Sata’s spouse as President of this country that she should unashamedly continue to misuse the state apparatus and equipment meant for use by the state President to carry-out his legitimate state duties and functions.

Surly, there must be some form of restraint and control of some kind. If he can’t discipline his party at least we expect him to discipline his errant wife from abusing our meager state resources.

As a shadow beneficiary of the state apparatus hospitality her moderate role should be to keep and maintain a socially low profile like her predecessors and enjoy the benefit and trappings that go with that office calmly if anything away from the unnecessary publicity stunts without provoking the ire of the public who are tax payers responsible for her husband’s welfare whilst he remains in state house as President of the Republic of Zambia.
