HH@UTHNurses at the University Teaching Hospital have downed tools demanding improved conditions after government failed to honour its promise to address their concerns raised at last month’s strike.

The nurses said they have been forced to go on strike because government had not honoured its pledge to rectify the mistakes in their remuneration system barely 90 days after they went on strike.

They have said that Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda had asked them to go back to work on the pretext that their concerns would be addressed but the minister never got back to them.

Nurses have vowed never to return for work until their concerns have been addressed.

They said that they were paid as low as K2, 800 despite having been promised a more than 100% salary increment.
