Vice President Guy Scott has claimed that the 10 copies the government wanted printed of the constitution was for ceremonial purposes.
Scott told parliament that the draft constitution will be ready for public viewing by the end of the year.
“The 10 copies are for ceremonial purposes for handover to the President that is far as I am aware,” Scott.
“We will be ready with the draft constitution by the end of December which is next month.”
Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba recently ordered the Technical Committee to print only 10 copies a move the Justice Anel Silungwe led team refused leading to a stand off.
The Technical Committee said the move was against the terms of reference that had been laid out that draft constitution will be released simultaneously to the public.
There has been a strong outcry from stakeholders on the development with some Civil Society Organisation warning government against provoking mass protest on what is perceived as an attempt to manipulate the constitution.
