Inktech managing director Mathews Mohan has been sentenced to death by hanging for the gruesome murder Cyclone Hardware director Sajid Itowala in 2009.
Supreme Court Judge Gregory Phiri found Mohan who has been in detention for the last four years guilty of the murder of Itowala.
Mohan’s co-accused persons Idris and Shabee Patel have been acquitted due to lack of evidence linking the two brothers to the killing of Itowala.
Judge Phiri, sitting as High Court judge, said in after going through evidence he was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Mohan could not be handed any other sentence but death.
Mohan was part of the star witnesses clique against retired Supreme Court Philip Musonda were lining up with his accusations against the retired judge having been given wide publicity in the Post Newspapers.
