Political activist Nason Msoni says President Michael Sata has continued being snubbed by foreign heads of state because of lack of diplomatic and presidential etiquette.
Msoni said the erratic behaviour of President Sata had led to the international community finding Vice President Guy Scott a more acceptable representative at international conferences.
“SADC regional leaders continue to snub President Sata for his disruptive behavior at meetings and find it extremely difficult and un-comfortable to relate with a man lacking both presidential etiquette and diplomacy that goes with that office,” Msoni said.
“It is generally accepted even amongst PF leaders that the political drama associated with President Sata wherever he goes regionally and internationally, if possible should be avoided and minimized by substituting him with Guy Scott as a stand-in figure head and representative at high profile SADC and Commonwealth and other high profile meetings.”
He said, “In the absence of Mr. Guy Scott you generally see the Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba stepping-in to serve face the Zambian leader who largely remains a dejected and isolated figure amongst his regional peers.”
“The international community is more acquainted and familiar with Guy Scott as the figure head attached to the country than the ever absent incumbent Zambian President. This is the misnomer that needs to be corrected.”
Msoni said the country should brace itself for a substitute at the helm to ensure that a more sober leader is crowned.
“There is no further debate that a substitution is essential and desperately needed and required at the earliest possible time whenever the next elections are called,” he said.
“In the meantime it is prudent to start warming-up the super-substitute players in readiness for the big substitution and the subsequent replacement of the entire under-performing team which needs to be relegated and consigned permanently to the achieves of history.”
