The striking nurses have refused to collect their exculpatory letters following the eight day strike action.
On Friday, government issued exculpatory letters that the nurses refused to collect with Health Minister Joseph Kasonde saying those who will not pick up their letters should consider themselves fired.
The nurses who have refused to go back to work until the salary discrepancies in their pay structure are addressed and also demanding a 100% salary increment say government should just address their grievances and not issue threats.
Nurses at UTH, Levy Mwanawasa, Ndola, Chipata and Livingstone have downed tools and have maintained that they will not go back to work until Labour Minister Fackson Shamenda delivers on his promise to address the nurses’ concerns.
