Sixteen people have been confirmed dead from the bus that plunged into the Luangwa River on Saturday night.
The bus that was carrying 75 passengers was heading to Chipata from Lusaka when the driver lost control leading to the accident.
An eye witness said: “I am on the scene, the bus was carrying 60 people, and 32 are admitted at Mupasha mission, 16 confirmed dead, about 7 without injuries, others including a pregnant woman could still be trapped in the mangled vehicle.”
Several other passengers are still trapped under water and efforts to retrieve the bodies were still on-going by press time.
