constitution-zambiaThe opposition Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM) has observed that the truth which must be accepted by all people in the country is that Zambia will continue using the current constitution for a long time as longer as it favors the party in power.

Party president Edwin Sakala says the only way that the country can hope to enact a constitution which can stand the test of time is only through harmonizing the political situation that submissions should be in national interest and not aimed at consolidating power in the hands of a ruling party.

Sakala says Zambia is a very rich country with abundant natural and human resources but that the country shall continue to have no new constitution to have no political harmony to put its wealth to the advantage of the people because everything including the process of enacting a constitution is turned into political confrontations.

Sakala said a statement that it is against this background that ZDDM is determined to field a presidential candidate in the next general election.

Sakala says his party’s motive is not to seek power to itself but to carry out the ZDDM vision of transforming Zambia into a strong, united, and God fearing nation.
