The Jesuit Centre for Theological Reflection says it doubts whether Bob Sichinga is the right man to run the Ministry of Agriculture given the continuous crises.
JCTR Director Father Leonard Chiti said Sichinga seemed to have no clue about many issues happening at his ministry and the recent wastage of 3, 000 bags of maize in Mkushi District had just added to the mess in the Ministry of Agriculture.
Fr Chiti said Sichinga should take responsibility for the wastage of maize in Mkushi due to poor storage.
“We thought the reshuffle in the Ministry of Agriculture was done so that things are sorted are sorted in that ministry but given what is going on we would like to question whether Sichinga is the right person for that ministry,” he said.
“Let him take responsibility for that mess in Mkushi and also the problems with inputs that are a daily occurrence. With such things mealie meal prices are bound to go higher and further add to the cost of living.”
Apart from the on-going chaos in the delivery of farming inputs a fresher challenge has been reported with maize rotting due to poor storage facilities.
