Confusion in the ruling party has continued with some Lusaka District officials resurrecting calls to have provincial chairman Geoffrey Chuumbwe removed from his position.
District Information Secretary Kondowe Zelisa said Chuumbwe and provincial youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba should vacate their positions to sanitize the party.
Kondowe, assigned by Mulenga Sata, led a gang of youths to push his cause at a media briefing.
He said Chuumbwe, who alongside Chikwelete are Wynter Kabimba’s gang, and his associates were responsible for the confusion in the party that has led to intra party clashes.
The district elections on Saturday left the party further divided after President Michael Sata’s son Mulenga was installed as chairman with his opponent pulling out at the last minute citing irregularities.
