guy-scott-zambiaThe Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes has condemned Vice President Guy Scot’s demand that Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba resigns from the ruling party.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Chembe said it was undemocratic for the Patriotic Front to force a member out of the party against his free will.

Chembe said Mwamba was free to stay in the PF if he still wished to represent the people of Kasama through the PF medium on which ticket he was voted for.

He said that the PF as the ruling party should lead by example by espousing divergent views in their boat.

Chembe said the decision to leave PF lay with Mwamba whose resignation as Defence Minister angered President Michael Sata and his cohorts.

Mwamba resigned as Defence Minister after his interaction with senior Chief Mwamba, a pariah under the PF government did not go well with President Sata who asked the Kasama lawmaker to choose between his Defence portfolio and the traditional leader.

On Wednesday, Scott held a press briefing to discredit Mwamba and challenge him to leave the ruling party.
