Civil society organizations have taken the fight for a new constitution to the Copperbelt with a prayer meeting held at Kitwe’s St Margaret United Church of Zambia church.
The CSOs, who have since held prayer meetings in Lusaka and Kasama, say they will take the fight to the whole country as they press for the release of the draft constitution to the public by the executive.
Operation Young Vote director Guess Nyirenda said the CSOs would not give up until the draft constitution was released.
Nyirenda said once the draft was released the CSOs would press for the referendum as a mode of adopting the constitution.
President Michael Sata has fallen back on his pledge to give Zambians a people driven constitution.
So far he has ignored calls from the public with the Zambia Episcopal Conference being the latest to advice the Head of State but he has paid a deaf ear.
