The veterinary department in Southern Province has lifted the ban on the movement of pigs and pork products in the area.
Veterinary officer Charles Maseka said 11 pigs had tested positive for African swine fever in Kalomo District while 700 samples had been taken as the department sought to halt the spread of the disease.
Maseka said the disease had been brought under control and farmers were free to trade in the livestock commodity subject to getting permits for livestock movement.
He said the veterinary department will keep the situation under watch to ensure the plague did not recur.
In December last year, government imposed a ban on the movement of pigs and pork products after the outbreak of the African swine fever.
