The UPND says Members of Parliament who accepted ministerial jobs in the Patriotic Front government will not be adopted on the party ticket in 2016.
Party deputy spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo said the MPs should utilize their days in government to fatten their pockets as they will have no chance against the UPND in 2016.
Lifwekelo said the perception that an MP can only be effective by being a minister was wrong as legislators by virtue of their position were already part of government.
“Our position as UPND is that MPs who accepted jobs in the PF administration will not be adopted on the party ticket in 2016. There must be discipline in any organization so people have to follow the rules of the organization,” he said.
“It is not true that as an MP you can only contribute to national development by being minister because by virtue of being MP you are already in government. Our advice to them is that they should eat now because come 2016 they will not be adopted.”
Among the UPND members serving in the PF administration are Greyford Monde, Puniso Njeulu and Richwell Siamunene.
