The truck drivers at the troublesome Kasumbalesa Border Post have called off their protest against entering the Democratic Republic of Congo after a five day spell.
Drivers had been incensed by the killing of a Zambian driver by a police officer in DR Congo and had asked for security guarantees from the DR Congo government.
However, on Tuesday after persuasion from the Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge and DR Congo officials the drivers finally agreed to conditionally enter the neighbouring country.
The drivers have given a two weeks ultimatum for both governments to improve the conditions.
