Banani School pixSESTUZ calls for an urgent meeting to assess the poor G12 2013 results

The Secondary School Teachers Union of Zambia (SESTUZ) says there is need for government and the union to have an urgent review meeting over the poor 2013 grade 12 results in government schools.

SESTUZ General Secretary, Sitibekiso Wauyuwa says that factors such as pupil-teacher ratio and inadequate infrastructure need to be seriously addressed.

Wauyuwa noted that public schools lack a number of things that count towards providing quality education.

SESTUZ Secretary General has added that it is unfortunate that public schools have continued to record poor examination results.

Out of the one hundred and four thousand, eighty hundred and nine Grade 12 pupils that sat for the 2013 final examinations, only sixty three thousand one hundred and four obtained full certificates.

Government schools recorded poor results compared with grant aided and private schools.
