The Northern Province Patriotic Front executive committee says it has summoned former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba with the chairman declaring that the Kasama lawmaker has no choice but to resign from the party.
Provincial chairman Chomba Chipili said they have given Mwamba seven days to exculpate himself failure to which he will be expelled.
Chipili pre-emptively said Mwamba was not popular and should take his chances by resigning or face expulsion.
“We have summoned GBM to appear before the provincial committee within seven days and if he does not appear we will have no choice but to expel him,” he said.
“This notion that GBM is very popular is wrong; he is not popular but is only using money. Let him try to resign and see what will happen to his political career.”
The PF hierarchy has waged full scale war on GBM since his resignation from government with his family also being thrown in the fight.
Mwamba resigned after President Sata asked him to stop interacting with Senior Chief Mwamba whose election as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu the Head of State is opposed to.
