Former Prime Minister General Malimba Masheke says President Michael Sata should understand that his stance on the constitution could cost him his re-election in 2016.
Masheke said Zambia had stronger leaders before that had been brought to earth by the collective might of the citizenry.
He said Zambians should not relent in their demand for a people driven constitution.
“The Patriotic Front should understand that should they dribble the people out of a new constitution they will be removed in 2016,” he said.
“They should know that there have been bigger people before them that were arrogant and ended up being humiliated. The Zambian people should stand together and they will win this battle.”
President Sata has provoked angry reactions for the jokes he has been making about the constitution.
The Head of State had the constitution top of his campaign list and followed through by appointing a Technical Committee after ascending to power but has since reneged on his promise.
