Opposition Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo is this morning expected to table the private member’s motion in parliament over the constitution.
The motion that was initially set to be tabled on Wednesday was pushed to Friday to allow for consultation as the impasse drags on in parliament with opposition MPs having been causing disruptions demanding a new constitution.
MPs will be expected to vote on the bill that seeks to compel government to provide a roadmap on the constitution.
The crisis was sparked by Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba’s Ministerial Statement which the MPs thought failed to provide direction on the matter.
MPs have also raised concern over recent remarks by Republican President Michael Sata who has played down the urgency of the constitution making process.
The PF had promised the Zambian people a new constitution within 90 days of being in power but two and half years in power nothing has happened.
