More people have condemned the arrest of 46 youths belonging to ActionAid for wearing T-shirts demanding a new constitution.
Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia Director Pukuta Mwanza said no one arrested the PF when they were in opposition and demanded for the constitution.
“If you promise people water and they demand water when you do not provide them with what you promised, is that an offence?” Mwanza asked.
“The youths were within their right in reminding the political leaders of their responsibility towards the people of Zambia. In any case the youth should be commended for taking their responsibility in public.”
FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi also condemned the action by the police.
He said the police were supposed to arrest the PF youth who were
wearing military attire as it was an offence under the Zambian law.
Police arrested 46 Action Aid youth during commemoration of Youth Day for wearing T-Shirts demanding a people driven constitution.
