Even the inconsistent Transparency International Zambia has showed some muscle in refusing to register under the ill fated Non Governmental Act.
With members of the civil society refusing to budge, the usually government aligned Transparency International Zambia says it will not register under the new NGO Act.
TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu said although government had extended the deadline for registration by another 60 days, his organization would not register as their position on the NGO Act had stayed consistent from the time it was broached up by the MMD government.
Lungu said they believed the law was bad and should not be entertained in its proposed format.
The proposed NGO Act proposes a board of 15 members whose composition largely framed to be dominated by government officials.
The board will be tasked to approve which NGOs should operate and also determine the location of operation.
