Chief Macha of the Tonga people of Southern Province has urged Zambians to rise up and demand a people driven constitution as the PF government had indicated that they were not willing to do so.
The traditional leader whose hard-line stance may have punctured First Lady Christine Kaseba’s recent trip to Southern Province to rally traditional leaders in the province to push the government line.
Chief Macha said it was sad that the PF had reneged on the constitution despite having promised the Zambian people a people driven constitution within 90 days of taking over power.
“President Sata promised the people of Zambia a new constitution within 90 days of being in power and he even re-emphasized that message on his inauguration. He even went further to appoint a Technical Committee on the constitution but now all that has been thrown out,” he said.
“The people of Zambia must rise up and demand a new constitution if they really want it.”
