sunday chanda‘Reformed’ former Patriotic Front sympathizer Sunday Chanda says the police should be ashamed of their action to arrest 46 youths that wore T-shirts demanding a new constitution.

Chanda, who runs the Open Society Foundation organization, said there was no need for government to be thick headed over the constitution because they had promised to deliver it to the people of Zambia.

He said the youth should join hands with all forces demanding a new constitution and let their voices be heard.

Chanda, who at one point enjoyed unfettered access to ZNBC airwaves as he trumpeted PF slogans, has since been blacked out by the national broadcaster.

He had led the sloganeering among PF aligned forces in supporting the removal of subsidies by the government which had angered the majority of Zambian citizens.

“The action by the police to arrest youths who wore T-shirts that bore the message demanding the constitution is not only shameful but distasteful.

“The police should be ashamed of their action as no amount of intimidation will discourage Zambians in their resolve to demand a people driven constitution,” he said.

“The youths should rise up at take up the challenge to demand a people driven constitution.”
