Antonio MwanzaThe opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) says President Sata should know that the more he stops Zambians from having public meetings the more the people will find alternative means of sharing ideas.

FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said preventing UPND leader from holding public rallies did not solve the problems facing ordinary Zambians.

“President Michael Sata is running a dictatorial government which does not believe in the tenets of democracy. Under the PF the freedom to assembly, freedom to free expression has been curtailed,” he said.

“What President Sata is doing is to stop Zambians from mingling and stop participating in national issues through dialogue but one thing that he is forgetting is the more he tries to stop the people from meeting the more the people will try to devise ways of meeting and strategize and the more he tries to use the police force as cadres to stop opposition from meeting the more unpopular this government is becoming.”

Mwanza said, “The people of Zambia are aware of what is going on, the problems that they are facing are not new under the PF.”

He said, “One thing that President Sata is forgetting is that stopping HH from meeting the people of Zambia does not stop the prices of mealie meal from going up. It does not stop the kwacha from depreciating and it does not stop the youth from wallowing in poverty and unemployment.”
