Defector Gabriel Namulambe says government has no money to fund the constitutional making process.
Namulambe, who ditched the MMD seeking protection from prosecution of his court cases involving corruption, said the government would not give the constitution making process a glance until they had carried out their development agenda.
The foreign affairs deputy minister said advocates of a people driven constitution had sinister motives.
Namulambe said the constitution was not a must have document for Zambians.
Recently ruling party MPs shot down demands for a new constitution in parliament drawing from the lead taken by President Michael Sata who has become an anti new constitution advocate despite having demanded for the document whilst in opposition.
Leading civil society organizations, the church and the labour movement have launched nationwide campaigns for a people driven constitution.
