‘Useless’ Patriotic Front ministers have received some love from church mother bodies who have come to their defence saying they should not be publicly shamed by President Michael Sata.
Council of Churches in Zambia chairperson Reverend Alfred Kalembo said publicly dressing down ministers as useless has the potential to erode their credibility before their eyes.
Kalembo said the language was against the etiquette of public service discourse.
“As Council of Churches we are concerned that the President has continued to dress down his ministers calling them useless which is wrong. Such statements will make the people lose respect for them,” he said.
And Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia general secretary Reverend Pukuta Mwanza said donors will think twice about dealing with government officials publicly perceived to be useless.
President Sata has gone on record publicly calling his Members of Parliament and ministers useless.
