Chishimba-KambwiliTransparency International Zambia has advised President Michael Sata to fire sports minister Chishimba Kambwili over allegations of corruption.

Kambwili has taken the limelight for allegedly ordering the ministry of sports to put up congratulatory messages in the Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia over his degree obtained at Kitwe’s Copperstone University.

The Anti Corruption Commission revealed yesterday that Kambwili had been summoned to their offices for corruption.

TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu said the move would give the right signals in the fight against corruption.

“We wanted to appeal to the Republican President to consider dismissing honourable Kambwili in an event that a premacie case is established against him by the Anti Corruption Commission,” Lungu said.

“This will create a positive impression that there is no one who is above the law. This will go a long way in boosting confidence in the fight against corruption. We appeal to the affected ministers to cooperate with the ACC to establish the truth and not interfere in anyway.”

Kambwili joins the growing shame list of PF ministers facing corruption charges with the others being sacked tourism minister Sylvia Masebo, Ronald Chitotela, Rogers Mwewa.

The others whose once highly publicized probes but ended up swallowed in political gamesmanship are Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba and the former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
