The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions says the only way government can curtail the debate on the constitution making process is to put back the process on track.
ZCTU president Leonard Hikaumba said the statements from top government officials were not making sense.
Hikaumba said there was no way of stopping the constitution making process as the citizenry were resolved to give themselves a people driven constitution.
“The next level requires us to deal with the referendum as provided for in the draft,” he said.
“If those in government want to curtail the debate that is going on, the right thing to do is to ensure that the process is resumed on the constitution making process.”
The constitution making process has stalled with President Michael Sata on Wednesday describing constitution making process advocates as yapping.
