IPAS Zambia has disclosed that about 4 women die on a daily basis in the country due to unsafe abortions.
IPAS Country Director Felicia Sakala says unsafe abortions are still a major challenge in Zambia.
Sakala has attributed the rampant unsafe abortions to ignorance by most people on the legal provision to undertake safe abortions.
She adds that unsafe abortions account for 30 percent of maternal mortality in Zambia and rampant among teenage girls.
Meanwhile, Sakala says IPAS has enhanced its campaign on where safe abortions can be undertaken.
