The National Empowerment Forum has appealed to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) to desist from harassing traders at COMESA market in Lusaka.
NEF Executive Director Edgar Siakachoma notes that ZRA should instead focus on collecting taxes from the mining industry which he termed as a lowly taxed industry.
Siakachoma has since advised ZRA to put in place proper mechanisms of collecting revenue from informal traders.
ZRA officers and state police last week raided COMESA market and confiscated goods that are suspected to have been smuggled into the country.
